🙏 Thanks!
Thank you all for the interest, to all those who have subscribed to this newsletter and those able to check out the shared graph (over 160+ of you so far, I think, based on Twitter stats). Will be nice to have stats / analytics available for shared graphs in future 😀 🤞
The response I got here to the shared graphs and newsletter launch last week were phenomenal!
🤝 Shared Templates!
The big story to drop this week (just today!) from Tana was a new tool allowing users to easily share templates with others, using just one sharable link!
Slack Update from Olav Sindre Kriken
Today we're launching a new feature we're really proud of: Tana Templates.
With Tana Templates we seek to give every user the power to share ideas, content and workflows directly from your own platform or simply by sending an URL to your friends or collaborators.
For content and education creators, this is a game changer. We want to democratize the creator economy and allow all our users to easily include a link to Tana Templates through any e-commerce listing, Gumroad, paid Substack... the sky is the limit. No centralized app-store required
It has been so inspiring to observe the amazing work done with the Tana Pattern Library: a fully community-run effort of love led by @Jens-Christian Fischer and its many contributors to create a space where users could share their Tana schemas, setups and more. From this, we learned that there is a real appetite for users to be able to share and copy Tana stuff with one another. This learning led us to dedicate some time to develop a new feature that we are rolling out today. Thank you Jens-Christian and the rest of the TPL contributors!
For creators: It is as easy as generating a link to a node that exists in a Public Workspace, and sharing it with others.
For recipients: It is as easy as clicking a link, and choosing which workspace you'd like the content to be copied to.
It is really that easy.
You may not have thought you had anything to share with our wonderful Tana community, but we hope this feature gives you second thoughts and that you'll contemplate giving Tana Templates a go...
To learn more, check out the Help Center article and Tana Template Library where some of our creators already have published the first Tana Templates!

More Shared Graphs
One shared graph I've been digging into a lot lately is the FAQ inventory from Slack, put together by Dee Todd. It's quite an undertaking and there's some real value in transposing this information into Tana, making it more searchable with categories - well done!
Here are a few FAQs I found interesting and learned a few things! I'll highlight a few each week going forward.
How can I find nodes created in the XX Days? (SQ)
How can I find all nodes that have a specific word? (SQ)
How do I create and edit an external link? (SQ)

One thing I've been thinking of lately is the power of a graph based database to house and present multifaceted data. I'm not an expert in the ins and outs of different database structures (excel was my biggest venture into simple databases before I discovered apps like Roam, Logseq and now Tana)
One use case I thought of was LinkedIn and how powerful that data set would be in a database like Tana! Kind of like a giant living resume for an industry, specialty, or topic. A way to track what's happening with specific people and companies over time.
Taken as a snapshot in time, you could see:
Who's where, with what company, doing what things.
Connections between people and companies.
Who's invested in this early stage start up, what other investments do they have, what other investors are they connected to, etc.
Board members and company leadership
The web and connections grow pretty quickly and exponentially! And I think that could be part of the power and challenge in reigning in all that information to an output that is useful for your purpose and needs.
Adding time to the mix you could see
Past companies that employees have worked for,
What major projects they worked on,
Partnerships with other companies and people,
Conferences attended,
The list goes on and on - a spiderweb of connections!
To see how this might look for Tana, I took the company itself and based on info available on the website, created a small graph of connections using just the following supertags:
These two supertags could easily be added to with more fields and more supertags added to round out an overall snapshot of a company, industry, or any field really!
Events / Conferences
New Releases / New Products
Funding Rounds
Etc.
From these tags, a bunch of live searches become available, two shown below for the Tana Team, and Backers of Tana. Just a start, but like a lot of Tana's structure, easy to build on over time.
Tana Team
Full list available at Tana site.
Backers of Tana Inc.
Full list available at Tana site.
And of course, with today’s topics, the above supertags and live searches are available as a Tana Template:
In Closing, I continue to be inspired by this community, seeing each other helping with questions and queries, discussing knowledge management, and learning more everyday. I'm liking the vibe and momentum this week!
